The 21st screening of short films made by young filmmakers
The Golden Kite Award for Short Films was held by
the Vietnamese Cinema Association on December12th,2008. The first prize (Golden Kite) was
awarded to Nguyen Thuy Giang with her short film “Bong roi”. The second prize
(Silver Kite) andthird prizes were also
given to some young film-makers.
On Saturday,
December 20th, 2008, TPDCenter will
organise screening of 3 short films which have just won The Kite Award 2008.

Come meet Indonesian documentary filmmaker Dimas
Jayasrana, founder of MarshallPlan, an independent DVD distribution label, and www.filmalternatif.org,
an information website for film communities in Indonesia.
Dimas will offer a presentation on Indonesian cinema and screen a collection of
short films including both fiction and documentaries.

Introduction
about Ang Lee
Ang Lee was born and
grew up in Taiwan moved to American to
study and start his career as a film-maker. He is among few Asian directors
whose works are loved by both Asian and Western audiences. At his
fifties, the director surprises the world with his extraordinary views which go
beyond geographical, historical and cultural borders.
This week's HI-DeFF (Hanoi Independent Documentary & Experimental
Film Forum) screening is at 6pmFriday Dec. 12, 2008 of independent experimental documentary film Mysterious Object at Noon (2000) by Thai
director Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

HI-DeFF and TPDCenter host a biweekly screening of independent,
experimental and art films and videos on the second and fourth Fridays of the
month, at 6pm.
The
Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents
was established under the Decision 236/HĐA signed by Mr.
Tran Luân Kim, Secretary General of Vietnam Cinema Association on 15 August
2002, with the purposes to design and implement programs to assist and develop movie
talents and other activities for the development of Vietnam cinema.
