Short filmmaking Financial Support 2008

kien_lua_3.jpgIn order to encourage and seek for talented and potential young filmmakers, the Short filmmaking Fund of the Center for Development and Assistance of Movie Talents (TPD Center) will provide financial support (VND 60,000,000 at most) for the making of 5 short films.

 

The making of those short films will give young filmmakers the opportunities to freely reveal their creativeness. If your short films are of good quality, they will possibly be sent to national and international film festivals.

Classes on ‘We are the filmmakers’ officially start.

7.2007_056_post.jpg‘We are the filmmakers’, the project for students at junior high schools (7th & 8th grade), high schools (10th & 11th grade), colleges and universities nationwide, has taken its first step. 

 

At 9 a.m. & 2 p.m. (17th February 2008) the Center for assistance and development of movie talents (TPD Center) held the opening ceremony for the classes on ‘We are the filmmakers’ at 22A Hai Bà Trưng street, Hanoi. On the same day an opening ceremony for another class in Ho Chi Minh city was also organized at 8.30 a.m. at Thai Binh private school, 236/10 Nguyn Thái Bình street, Precinct number 12, Tân Bình district.

Cannes and Venice Film festivals
post.jpg(10.00 a.m. 18th January 2008) Paolo Bertolin, an Italian film critic gave a talk to the students of the producing course and of the ’10 months, 10 films’ project about Cannes and Venice Film festivals. The focus of Paolo Bertolin’s talk was on the main categories of Cannes and Venice Film festivals and how to send films to these 2 best film festivals of Europe.

Paolo Bertolin is currently working with Cannes ' Critics' Week http://www.semainedelacritique.com/ and with Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF), a festival specializing in mainstream, popular East Asian films, ranked by Variety as one of the 50 best film festivals in the world www.fareastfilm.com.

 
Conference on documentary films by German filmmaker Hans Hattop
hans_web.jpg2pm Saturday 10th Nov, 2007, TPD co-operated with Goethe Institute to organize a conference on documentary films by German filmmaker Hans Hattop with the participation of students from “10 months, 10 shorts film” program and film production course and young documentary filmmakers. During the conference, besides some documentary films by Hans Hattop, TPD has shown the film “Probationers” by Pham Thi Hao – a female director who had attended the documentary filmmaking course Varan. Hans Hattop comes to Vietnam for a month to deliver lectures in the School of Theatre and Cinema.
