Cinema Roundtable - Independent films in Vietnam

For the last few years Vietnamese Cinema has been divided into two main streams: state-owned and private apparatus. Flowing along these two main streams is independent film by young filmmakers. Though independent film is such a discreet movement, it has proved itself to be the enduring series of monopolistic practices containing a great deal of the passion for cinema of young filmmakers and film distributors.

The 3rd cinema roundtable will be about Independent films in Vietnam.

Participants will have chance to watch Love man love woman, an independent film by director Nguyen Trinh Thi. Love man love woman has not been screened publicly, yet a large number of domestic and foreign movie-lovers have known about this movie.

Guests

  2. Director Nguyễn Trinh Thi.
  3. Mr. Nguyễn Quý Đức – Member of the San Francisco International Asian film festival’s Organizing board.
