Brief introduction about director Park Chan-Wook

Born in 1963 in Tanyan, Jecheon, Park Chan-Wook is one of the most prominent script writers and film directors in Korea. His 3 most famous revenge movies are Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. He was onced honored with his Oldboy at Cannes in 2004. His films apparently often contain violent scenes, yet hiding behind those scenes is humanity.

 

About J.S.A. – Joint Security Area:

J.S.A. – Joint Security Area is the 3rd long feature film of Park Chan-Wook. The movie is about an investigation into a shooting in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a strip of land that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. In 2000 Joint Security Area had become the highest grossing film in Korean film history and helped promote the popularity of its director.
